Next Apollo and Andie update...

Apollo is now able to keep food down. He has not thrown-up since last night and has managed to eat about 1/8 of a cup of food and not get really sick all day. He has more energy too. He is begging for food too, and we have to give him small amounts only for now.

Andromeda is very weak. She was puking bile all last night and at the vets with me this morning. She (both) were given another antibiotic shot today and will get another Friday (Apollo may not if he continues to get better, the vet feels it is not good to do that is he is managing. He says their immune systems are too immature still and he prefers not to overwhelm them with drugs IF it can be avoided). She had extensive work done today. Hydration fluids, x-rays, blood work (enough to do full panels, all tests imaginable), urine tests, fecal tests… many of the test have to be sent out and with the new year, we many not have results till next week. Mean time she is now throwing up a pink color because of blood mixing in with it. The vet is not overly worried unless there is a lot of blood in it. She just had a bout 10 minutes ago. Her temp is down to 101.9 now too. But they go back at 9:40am for more checkups and work.

Our hope right now is that Andie follows Apollo by 1 to 3 days and starts a slow recovery. But she is much worse than he was and so weak now. She lost 3/4lb in less than a week from this.

Even though FIP test on Apollo was neg two times, the vet says it is not off the possible list. If Andie's results are negative he will decide it cannot be, but he wants to see all the results and levels. Another possibility that came up: Nova has something that somehow I may have brought into the house (though till he was tested for all the bad stuff I always scrubbed and changed clothes after being with him, and my shoes NEVER follow into the house. But if something communicable came in with Nova, it could be that the other adult cats have an immunity to it. The kittens immune systems may be too immature and they fell victim to something. As a joke the vet is calling it the “Andromeda Strain” Yuk yuk yuk.

Oh, since we got the kittens from his office (his tech’s x-husband saved them from being killed by the dog that killed their mom) and we spent close to $1500 on this so far (not including Nova’s tests, neuter, deworming and more totaling close to $500) since this morning ALL work on the kittens related to this illness is free. Thank God, today alone was close to $600 in work, tests, injections and consultations with specialists.

Thank God your vet is covering cost for this illness. I am praying that they'll both get better soon. Thanks so much for the update. These kitties deserve a long, healthy life and with you as their furdad I'm sure that will happen!

Hugs & Prayers,

That's great news that Apollo is better. I hope Andie will feel much better in the next couple of days too.
