Well, I wanted to say thanks to all that gave me advice about my dominating kitty Nikki. If anybody remembers my post, I was concerned about how my roommates were getting a very young puppy (6 weeks) and how Nikki & the other kitties were going to treat it. So far so good.. The first day was pretty tense, all the cats looked like giant squirrels with their tails puffed up and their backs arched.. but luckily they kept their distance and nobody attempted to swipe at the lil puppy (Dakota) .. After a couple of days, my big girl Kiki started to get a bit curious and actually inched her way up to Dakota and they sniffed each others noses for at least 10 seconds, then parted ways & she's actually done this a couple of times now. My 2 cats now tolerate our 5 month old pup pretty well. He chases them from time to time, and they have had to give him a couple "I've had enough" swipes. The cats still have thier claws in case they need to defend themselves, but it's worked out pretty well - just like you said. They won't ever be best friends, but I think they are coming along well! :)
