I usually don't watch this show cause it upsets me. But they are having a marathon today and for whatever reason I'm compelled to watch. I need to vent and rant about some stuff and I know you all will be understanding and share in my outrage.

On the last episode I watched, the SPCA officers entered two houses to rescue cats and dogs. The first house had approx. 30 cats in it. The second house had approx. 30 dogs. The owners of the houses are not related and these two incidents are different cases. Naturally, both houses were absolutely digusting. There was pee and feces all over the place. All animals were filthy and sick. Aside from the ill treatment of the animals, what kind of moron DOES NOT clean up after their pets? The bad treatment is horrendous in and of itself, but what really gets me is that these people just let their pets "go" all over the place and didn't clean the messes up. These were in their homes where they too are LIVING. Who lives like that? In the house with the cats, the SPCA officer commented on how the carpeting what just full of stains and how his feet were kind of sticking to the floor. The owner was like "well, I don't know how to take care of all these cats". I only saw one litterbox which was full and filthy so naturally no cat is going to go in it. I can't comment on if there were other litterboxes cause the show only portrayed the one. I guess it's the sheer stupidity of the situations which get to me.

Obviously, I would never be able to be an animal control/rescue person. lol Just needed to vent.

I know...it's good to know that there are cops out there dedicated to the well-being of animals, but I have to avoid this show because it makes me so sad and so angry.

Just remember that these people get into these situations with probably the best of intentions.

It's definitely not an easy show to watch. God bless those animal cops who are strong enough to do the job. I would be so depressed if I had to witness cases of animal abuse every day. The hoarders are not even the worst of them because they appear to be mentally ill - the ones who run businesses like petting zoos, puppy farms and pet shops and who neglect their animals to the point that there are animal corpses on the premises, and pans of filthy water for the animals to drink, and pans of rotten food for them to eat - those are the ones that really make me mad. Those people should not even be given a second chance - they should just take all the animals away and not allow them to ever get any more. Iri

I agree. I knew a lady who owned about 30 cats and she helped us get a discount on getting one of our own cats spayed.

I guess I kept watching cause it was truly heartwarming to see the animals feeling better once they were removed, cleaned up, and fed. The animals *knew* their life was going to get better and they showed affection towards the caretakers and officers. Not all animals did - on one episode, they had to remove some visicous pitbulls from a bad situation and I'm sure those pitbulls weren't too keen on showing affection to any humans. lol There was a 5 month old German shepard girl who had an imbedded link chain in her neck. She was truly miserable, but once they cleaned her up and removed the chain and she started feeling better, she was seemed so happy that it was like she was saying "kisses for everyone!" everytime she saw a human. LOL It was cute. I guess I didn't realize that some people hoard animals. The house will all the dogs was definitely a puppy mill though. It just shocked me that people live like that. But, I guess Britney Spears lets her new puppy go everywhere and apparently doesn't clean up after it either. It just floors me because it shows a lack of common sense, ya know? I understand the hoarding and the people with mental illnesses, etc. But when people don't suffer from anything and they still let their animals go everywhere and don't clean up, what's with that? Ewww. Okay, I'm done rambling.

I used to not watch these type of shows, but now they seem different. You can learn what to do, what is acceptable or not. I'd love to be an animal control officer only if I can do to the person what they did to the animal! Donna
