The kitties are 6 months. I feed them 1/4 cup each twice a day. Lately they have been eating it all where before they always left some. if you go by what the package says that would eat a ton. I remember I always feed Tiger that same amount and he was full grown. They both are getting tummys so should I just leave it at that? I hate to have them get fat and then have to cut down. I feed Scooby 1/2 cup twice a day and he is 3 times as big and seems just the right amount for him

Kittens take a lot more food than an adult cat because they are growing and are so active and burn so many calories.

Hi,
I would ask your vet, who could judge better since she can see them. Kittens grow so much until they are about a year old. It is alright for a 6 month old or younger kitten to have a tummy. You will find over the next few months that they will grow bigger and lankier and then fill out. They definately need extra nutrition for all the growing they will be doing and all the playing they do. Personally I think it is better to err on the side of giving kittens a bit too much than too little, because, like children, they need a lot of extra calories.
