One of my kitties, Zachary does this. Poor Rosie the Rat has been drowned quite a number of times, other times he put her in the food dish. There is a reason for this behavior I found out. In the wild, cats often take their prey back to their "nest" area or "lair" to hide it from any other predators that may be in the area. Since our indoor kitties don't really have a "nest" per se, they often consider their food and water dishes as the "safest" areas within their "territory".

Now, I don't mind this at all but it sure freaked my sister in law out one time when she was petsitting. She thought is was a real mouse! LOL Too funny!

Take care, Lynn
