Update on my "what to do" kitten issue

Last week I asked for your advice. My cousin's wife was trying to get me to take a kitten that had a stray mommy, with the threat that if the kitten didn't find a home, it would become and outdoor cat. I took all your advice and turned down the kitten, rather than expose my 2 girls to some unknown disease.
I wanted to update everyone one the situation. After turning down the kitten, I was talking with a coworker about it. Surprisingly, she said she'd be interested in adopting the kitten. She has a small dog, but had been thinking about getting a kitten as she had grown up with cats and really misses having one. Well, let me tell you, I went shopping for cat food & litter with my coworker today over lunch. She's picking up the kitten this evening. Her son has already named the furbaby girl Chessie, after the Chesapeake & Ohio Railroad, which had an advertisement in 1933 to "Sleep like a Kitten" on their railway. Even had an add sign that said "Chessie System" and had a cat in the logo.
So Chessie gets a good home, I'm still on track to get my kitten next week from the rescue organization, and a little more went right in the world!

Oh yes, I'm so glad it worked out. I wasn't trying to find the kitten a home. I was just lamenting to this work friend. I was shocked when she expressed interest. I knew she liked dogs, but didn't know she'd grown up with cats her whole life. But I was very clear to her that I was in no way trying to push this cat on her. I didn't want her to feel guilted like I had. It was so totally not fair.
I also found out that the woman with all these cats and kittens, has them because she's feeding ferals. She's trying to get them spayed and neutered, but she can't get close to many of them yet. So she keeps trying to find homes for as many kittens as possible. And taking in a stray kitten was exactly what I'd said I would NOT do, to protect my girls.
I have to admit, this is where I have a bit of my dad in me. I wouldn't feed feral cats. My thinking would be, you feed the strays, then they keep coming around. And then my heart breaks when I can't take them all in. I can't deal with that.
