No, she's not licking herself...she's licking ME! Any idea what would make Chalimar be a licker? She likes to pick a spot of exposed skin on me, usually my hand or arm, and she licks and licks. If I'd let her, she'd lick that spot raw! The only other thing she licks like that, is the edges of doors. If you open a closet door, she will run over to it and start licking the edge. It is SO WEIRD. She's 7yrs old, and she's done this since she was a kitten. I don't think she was taken from her mommy too young, because she and her mommy were at the same foster home when I got her, and I believe she was about 4 months old at the time.
I just thought I ask all of you. I asked my vet once several years ago, and they seemed to have no clue. And it was brought to my attention, because I'm trying to surf the web at the moment, and she keeps meowing and pawing at me. When I reach down to pet her, she starts licking my hand like that! Maybe she just can't hold her licker. ;)

No, I have issues with constantly washing my hands. Wearing lotion just makes it worse. So no, no lotion. Just me. It's annoying. If she can, she'll grab my hand with her paws and bring it to her to lick. She looks rather miffed when I tell her to stop licking me, and pull my hand away. Ok...if a cat can look miffed...

Cats that like each other, lick each other, so maybe she associates loving you with licking you.
