When my cat was a kitten he chewed through a power cord and burned his tongue to the bottom of his mouth. Amazingly enough he still tries to chew cords. If you look in your pet store you may find cord covers designed to keep bunnies from eatting cords. Another (and sometimes cheaper) trick is to get some of the tubing used in aquariums and slit down one side, then simply slip it over the cords so they can't be chewed. It isn't the most attractive thing but if they are cords that are generaly hidden from veiw by furniture and a furry in your house is a chronic cord chewer it may help.

Ikea sells packages of cord covers for around $2. They're for organizing electronics cords. However, they're worked extremely well for me, keeping Bad Annie from destroying my cords. She's never been picky about cords. Phone...cable...computer...MICROWAVE...if it's a cord, and it's eye-level for her, she'll chew it.

I like the covers that snap flat against the wall - pain to get the cords out of later, but it kept the cats away!

Scott, the dear annoying cat, tried to eat the fridge cord, and when he got busted at that, ran downstairs and tried to chew the chest freezer cord. Following THOSE routines, the cords in the house all got covers. Honestly, I've NEVER had any other animal be so bad about wanting to chew cords - not even puppies! Puppies, heck, with most of them, we put some dish soap on the cords, one attempt at chewing and that was enough.

I have had rabbits who were less persistant at chewing cords than my cat is. I had one rabbit who literaly ate the plaster off the walls and would chew on everything else that she could possibly reach by standing on her hind feet and reaching. A little dish soap and she left the cords alone though. I wish it would have worked on the walls and furniture.. My cat however.. he's better now but when he was a kitten I had to cover all the cords and then check them regularly to make sure he had not managed to chew through the covers.

That's why I like the covers we have now - they are snapped to the wall, try as Scott the naughty cat may, he can't chew the covers up. We even found a system that have parts to cover over the outlet - so there is NOTHING Scott can reach. Now the turkey just kills the speaker cords on the computer - so errm, we haven't replaced those yet.

I put cayenne pepper on my cords. Bailey took one sniff, and didn't come back to them for weeks. I think I have to freshen them up again though, because he's been nosing around them again lately. I think I'll have to check into those covers though!
