I was over my parent's house and I was leaving and they had their garage door open and there was a cardinal flying around in there trying to get out but couldn't . I was afraid it was going to hurt itself running up against the window so I got a ladder and
climbed up and picked it up while it was on the window sill and took it out of the garage and it flew away all safe and sound.

Good for you! The poor little thing was probably petrified.

I rescued a bird from my cousin's cat when I was about 5 years old. The little thing was actually still alive and fully intact! I even have pictures that my mom took of me holding it. We walked out into the woods behind my grandmother's house and let it go.

I've rescued so many little birds who seem to have death wishes every year around the same time (must be mating season or something)... they love to crash themselves into my big picture bay window.

How in the world did you get ahold of it?

I rescued a sparrow once in our pool- it just dove right in! I scooped him up- gently- and released him- he was scared- and slightly wet- but fine-
