My new furbaby came home Friday night!

I got to pick my new furbaby up at the foster home after work Friday evening! I had discussed it with the rescue group, and we decided that since he only had a couple small ringworm spots, it would be a good idea to get him out of there asap. So I picked him up...brought him home...and I absolutely ADORE him. He is a cuddler and a talker, and is SO CUTE! His new name is Kieran.
I took him to the vet today, and got the exact same topical ringworm treatments that his foster home was using. He has four spots, all on his face and ears. It was very cool to see them glow under the blacklight. I was quite proud of him, too, as he wasn't the least bit scared of the vet. I hope that lasts.
Now I'm dealing with the paranoia of treating ringworm. I've made his "bedroom" a haz-mat area. I have clothes I only wear in there. I have latex-free gloves. I'm washing my hands and arms like mad. I've got lysol...spray and wipes. It's insane. I figure I'll get it, I just don't want to get it on my face or head. And he wants to climb up and get in my face! I also feel guilty, because he has to be kept alone, and he's not used to that. I'll be in there with him, and he'll hear Bad Annie cry (because she's miffed that I'm closed in the room and didn't let her in too)...and he'll run over to the door and cry back! Oh, I hope we can clear this ringworm up fast!

Congrats on the new baby! LOL!
I hope you can get the ringworm cleared up quickly too - so that you can get the introductions and everything underway! Can't wait to hear how the girls react to him!
Wishing you lots of luck (and patience)!

Noelle,
I'm sure the Kieran is glad to be home now with his new furmom! Good luck on clearing the ringworm up and the introductions. Just go slowly, one sense at a time waiting until you have the ringworm cleared up and I'm sure they will all adjust to each other just fine.
Take care, Lynn

Thanks. I need the encouragement. I just finished decontaminating myself and the bathroom after treating him today. This is SO not fun. I've got a special outfit and surgical gloves that I wear in there, so I don't have to completely shower from head to toe. But I'm so afraid that I'll pass this on to my girls.
That said, Kieran is such a sweetheart! I was so worried that I picked a kitten who wouldn't be a cuddler. HA! He is all over me when I get in there. (And, I might add, I am covered in scratches. I forgot about that part of kittenhood.) He's adjusting well. He's using the litterbox, climbing on the cat tree, and he learned how to use the scratching post!
I feel badly, because he's adjusting so well, that were he not in quarantine, I'd have started the "scented sock switch" part of the introduction by now. My girls are somewhat interested in the door to his room...so I know they know he's in there. But there has been no hissing, or acting out on their part. (though with Bad Annie, it'd be difficult to tell between her normal badness and "acting out.") I guess we'll just have to see how his treatment is progressing at his next vet appointment in 2 weeks.
I promise to post pictures of Kieran next weekend. I don't own a digital camera, and my parents went on vacation and took theirs. When they return, baby pictures will be taken!!!
