How to stop a kitten from scaling ME?

OK, Kieran thinks it is great fun to climb me. I'll be sitting on the floor with him, and he'll come running over and start climbing me. He wants to be on my shoulder. (due to the ringworm, I'm not to keen about him being there.) He has a cat tree, which he climbs that too. However, he REALLY likes to climb me. I am covered, head to toe, in scratches. I should have just used neosporin, instead of shower gel. OWIE.
Please please please....if I EVER come on here and say I'm getting a kitten again, someone remind me they are insane and have claws. I apparently forgot that part. (I adore him...I'm just hurting at the moment.)

I'm attempting to use redirection with cat toys. That seems to be working. After 2 days, I'm starting to get his body language, so I'm getting better at anticipating his actions. He gets a certain look on his little face, before he leaps onto my side to start climbing. I'm trying to either grab him before he leaps, or entice him with a toy. He and I just have to get used to each other, I guess.

ROTFLMBO!!! I said the same thing to my DBF after we adopted Tasha -- she was full grown and I marvelled at how well-behaved and ALREADY TRAINED she was. LOL! I also felt really good about adopting an older kitty. I said to DBF that as much as I love kittens, I'd probably never ever adopt one again. I told him the only way I'd ever have a kitten again is if I rescued a stray.... enter Bailey! Haha.

I realized when Kieran went racing across the room, launched himself at the rope-wraped post of the cat tree, scaled it, pulled himself up onto the perch, raced onto the windowsill and promptly fell off....that's when I knew he was insane. He looked at me like, "yeah...I meant to do that."
I adore him. I have to get him caught on film. Watching him chase his tail is hilarious.
