Say you have a 30 yr old son (we'll call him Jim), while he's deployed to Iraq, you get a letter from the mother of the young woman (we'll call her Rita) your son communicated with and visited with before he left last August.

I am not a mother, but from a 30-year old daughter, I would be pretty mortified if my mom contacted the mother an ex-boyfriend (or whatever) to find out what went wrong. I think it should be left up to Jim and Rita to hash things out. They are both adults, and should not be dealing through their mothers.

i would reply to the mother that this is an issue between the two young adults and its not your style to involve yourself in others private matters...

IMO it was extremely out-of-line for this girls mom to contact the soldiers mother, to hope for the boys mom to pry and report back to her!...in all my years i have never utelized my mom (or anyONE) to try to figure out MY romances...i can understand the young womans mom is concerned about her daughters heartache, but as mom she should councel her child how to move on and not encourage the daughter to pine for this man.
