New to OLD and need advice

Hi all, I browsed through the discussion group archives for help, but didn't find it.

I have been im-ing someone I met through Yahoo! Personals. We im much of the day from work and have been doing this for a couple of weeks now. He still has not asked for my phone number. He lives in another state, but we have mentioned meeting. Usually we turn it into a joke -- I don't know if he isn't interested, or if he is as new to the whole thing and just as intimidated as I am.

Please help this newbie!

If he hasn't asked for it by now, he's not going to.

Hi and welcome to the board. You're on the right track to be concerned that he's not asked for your number yet. If you've read thru the discussion boards you'll see that it's best to move to the phone quickly and then set up a face to face meeting ASAP. My advice would be to send him your number and ask him to call you. If he doesn't, then he's not going too and could possibly have reason's for not doing so, ie, married, involved with someone already or just out there playing games.

Good Luck to you!!

WELCOME TO THE BOARD!

To be honest.....Pianoguy doesn't put a lot of faith in the Yahoo Personals.

He lives in another state, right? How far away are you from each other? Do you feel that if you do meet and hit it off

Pianoguy suggested the use of an alternate number simply because this man could be a NUT CASE!

So then she should ask for his number and hit *67 to block caller ID.

If she suspects that the guy might be a nutcase and won't give her number b/c it's too risky what makes it okay to give out the number of a

Pianoguy had forgotten about the "67" option.....so thanks for the reminder.

Ironically....I receive many phone calls at various hours (early in the morning...late at night...and in-between), but most of the callers I'm familiar with and if I'm too tired to chat....I'll usually say...err..."I'M STARTING TO FADE, CAN I CALL YOU TOMORROW?"
