Match vs. Yahoo

I've searched match.com and I just don't see much. I seem to like Yahoo Personals a little better... I promise this isn't an ad for anyone, I'm just wondering what I'm missing since a lot of you seem to go with Match. Maybe it's because you can't really see the pictures very well on match when you're not a member... Is there something you've found about Yahoo that's bad that makes you all go with Match???

TIP: When you aren't a match member - search the site with two browser windows open. The first should be your overall search. The second can be logged into the match search section. Type in the profile ID and Match will show you a full list of the profile (which you cannot get to by clicking if you are not a member).
You can always get to the full profile information and picture by going to the search tab and typing in the id to search directly by.
I'm confused by your statement about the pictures on match...I'm not a subscriber at the moment but my ability to view pictures doesn't change depending on whether I'm subscribed or not.
I have profiles on both and at the moment am a subscriber with Yahoo. I have had pretty good luck meeting people I'm interested in dating through Yahoo (slightly better than with Match).

In order to see the full picture on Match you must be a member (you don't have to be paying and you don't have to have a profile visible - just an account).
Otherwise if you click the link to see the full profile, it prompts you to create an account.
The way around that is to search directly on the profile name in the search screen.

You can see the pictures they're just really small and hard to make out. On Yahoo they do a headshot no matter what photo you submit and the pictures are a little larger so you can see better. Plus you see the profile. I don't get why Match is hiding it. I'd be a whole lot more compelled to pay if I found someone I wanted to get to know. Hiding what the person looks like and what their profile says doesn't make me want to join!!! And eharmony lost me altogether because, unless I'm missing something, you can't even search who's on there without subscribing.
Write down the user name. Go to the main match screen - look for where it asks for USERNAME. Enter that in and search by user name - you WILL see the entire profile without having to be logged in as a member (either paid or unpaid).
The memberships are free and you do not have to upload a picture or be viewable - so there isn't really any reason to not create a free account - it makes searching much easier too because you can save the searches and maintain a favorites list.
I think the question of which service to use pops up here from time to time.
Most people, or at least a lot of people, go with Match for a simple reason- they are the biggest. Not the best, necessarily, but typically they have the most profiles in a given area to search through.
Since OLD is kind of a numbers game (if only a small percentage of the opposite sex is a potential match for us, we increase our odds of finding that match by having a large pool to choose from) it makes sense that you go with whatever service has the MOST people in your area.
Of course, if you're a female, the odds are you can simply create a profile and post it; even if you don't subscribe, you'll still get messages from the guys. Crafty guys will find a way to hide their email addresses IN those messages so you can contact them back if you find them interesting.
Some services, of course, make you become a member just to READ your messages. American Singles and at least one other that I can't think of right now does that.
But in the end, Yahoo and Match are roughly the same; use whatever works for you. Heck, try them both out.
You can't search on eHarmony. They send you matches based on the criteria they determine from your personality profile. You then communicate with people they send. But if you are not a paying member on eH, you cannot see the pictures of matches they send to you and you cannot communicate in any way with them except to close the match. eH is not for the casual browser of profiles. You have to shell out the cash to get anything from them.
And I guess the point on Match is, you can be a subscriber but not a paying member. Even if you are a subscriber to Match and not paying the monthly fee, you should be able to see exactly what a paying member does. You just cannot send emails or respond to emails. Winks and viewing full profiles are free but you have to create at least a basic profile with a user name and such.
