I did read your post before you decided to delete it. Regardless of whether or not it was "just an excuse" for ghosting, identity theft is a very real and serious problem in recent years. I work in the financial industry (credit union) and unfortunately, we see this type of crime all the time. In several instances, some of our very alert employees have caught attempted instances of identity theft before it had the chance to escalate into a very costly and time-consuming situation for the member (that's what we call our "customers"). The average identity theft loss is approximately $37,000 (not including attorney's fees, should that be necessary) and takes approximately 18 months to clear up.
