I just don't get it sometimes, but that's the nature of the beast with OLD. A guy winked at me on match, I winked back. He emailed me and said "We both winked at each other! Email me back, ask me some questions. hope to hear from you soon." So I replied and asked some general questions. That was Saturday!!! No response. WTF. Do these people drop off the face of the earth!!?

I just had the same thing happen with a pretty cute guy from Match. He winked, I winked back. He emailed with a friendly email saying how he he really liked my profile and how he'd like to get to know me better, blah, blah. I sent a short email back asking him a couple questions and about his weekend. That was not this past weekend but the weekend before. Never heard back. Whatever.

Donna,

I've had this happen to me at least half of the time I've been on match in the last year. For humor's sake here's what happened to your sweetie:

He only looked at your photo and sent you a wink. Then his wife banged on the door and asked why the door was locked. He quickly turned off the computer. Later, after she refused his requests for sex, he snuck into the computer room and noticed you'd winked at him. Then he wrote you a nice little e-mail. Then he went back to sleep on the couch. The next day dawned and he noticed you e-mailed him back. He was about to write you back that he was in love with you when his wife when nature called. While he was using the facilities, his wife came in and saw the e-mail he was going to send to you. So to make a long story short; he's still locked in the bathroom.... :-)

Yeah I have that problem and I get annoyed that I wrote out an email to someone who ghosted -- and then 3 days later nada. So I block the suckers.

Naturally two or three days after that I get an MSN Alert that so-and-so just emailed. But I never get the email because of the block.

I just have no patience for game players. And no, as a matter of fact I typically don't find people are too busy to respond. If they have low interest they take their damn sweet time responding.

I think my first match is about to ghost me (I just joined last week) The guy asked for my phone number Monday and today is Thursday. I guess if he doesn't call tonight, he's not going to because of the weekend. Why bother to ask for the number?? I thought guys would be over asking for the number for fun/ego boost by now!

If your active in Match you should be regularly encountering ghosts. Hard to say what the percentage is but:

When someone winks me -- if I were to respond via email maybe 2 out of 5 would return the email.

When someone emails maybe 3 out of 5 will return an email.

During an ongoing dialog - probably 3 out of 5 ghost.

These are not hard and fast numbers - more of a gut feel.
