Dress/Tux and Jeans/T-Shirts

We all know that almost everyone online is looking for someone who is equally comfortable in a dress/tuxedo or jeans and a t-shirt.
But what are you really comfortable wearing? How do you dress? Do you dress differently on a first meet than you usually do? Do you take more care of your dress/general appearance when you're dating someone?

Good post jhoover!

I have certain outfits that I wear on a first meet, depending on my mood. One is more casual, with jeans and a top I know that flatters me and others are more dressy - black dress pants and nice tops.
So no, I don't dress differently than I do otherwise, but I do take care with my hair and makeup more than I would say on a day of running errands and cleaning house!
I always take care of my appearance whether I am dating someone or not, as I find I just feel better all around when I take care of myself daily.

Maybe it's just me, but...
I have never in my life met a man who owned a tuxedo.
The only tuxedos worn by anyone I ever knew were rented for a wedding.
Anybody with me, or is it just me??
Well, I go to A LOT of black/white tie events, so I really do have an entire closet full of cocktail dresses, dinner suits, evening gowns and ball gowns. I really am just as comfortable in a gown as jeans. Actually, I don't think jeans are all that comfortable. LOL
My office is business casual, so if I'm meeting someone at lunch or after work, that's what they get.
Weekend morning coffee meets, they are going to see me in jeans and paddock boots or breeches and boots, because I'm on my way to the barn afterwards.
I always take care with my appearance, so no, I don't think I spruce myself up for a meet than running to the store for milk. Yes, I'm one of those - can't walk out the door without at least powder and lipstick. ;)
Most of the men I know own at least one dinner jacket, one set of tails, and one set of pinque.
In regards to tuxedos, my friend Robert put it best - one in the closet, one at the cleaners, and one on my back.
Hi Hoov,
I guess I have many styles and I am comfortable in all of them. My number one rule is "Comfort"; while I like to wear lots of different types of clothing, if it is Not comfy, out it goes!
Being a Cupcake I DO dress for the man in my life, especially once we are in a relationship. There is a fine line between sexy and verge hoochie, and I Never cross that. I do sweet/sexy a lot with little skirts and flirty tops and dresses. I love jeans and tops, too. I even have a 'biker chick' kinda look and I wear a lot of black, as I like it and you can combine it with colors--always looks good. I love dressy pants, too. Not much on shorts, but I love capris.
Part of my life is held in the gym almost each day, and I truly love workout clothes, as they are a first cousin to pajamas!!! :) I am also shoe crazy and love anything from boots to sexy slides--but again, comfort is Job 1! I love dressing up, Barbie formal style, but I can chill with the best of them in a bathing suit alllll day!
The man I am dating almost Never wears jeans and I am fine with that--he always looks great. He loves the way I look in jeans, and I wear nice tops and belts with them, with him. As for me, at home, give me my Levis slouch jeans and my Gumby t-shirt and I am Platinum!
truly,
Cupcake
When I was doing first meets it would depend on the time of year and weather. If it was a Sunday and summer time I might wear shorts and a t-shirt w/my swim suit underneath as I'd go the beach right after - I did that a lot. I needed my coffee and figured it was on the way - not a big waste of time.
If it was after work - work attire. If it was on the weekend, cute jeans and a cute shirt - could be a T or a blousy type of shirt.
I tend to dress a little bit more
feminine on a date, especially, a
first date ...
Yeah, I guess I take a little bit
better care of myself when dating
someone but, that's a secret!
