Hi guys,
I was wondering if anyone else watched Penn and Teller season 2 of "B*llsh*t!" on Showtime (it aired again after Fat Actress last night) I thought that the episode called "The Business of Love" was very interesting. Here is a quote from the webpage dedicated to the episode.
"Romantic love - it's a fantasy akin to believing in Santa Claus. Here's the truth - the first blush of love is a chemical reaction. And, like all drugs, it wears off after a while! We'll look into the myth of monogamy, and the industry mining for people looking for love and relationships. That comprises just about all of us, folks!"
There are also clips of the episode on this page "http://www.sho.com/site/ptbs/topics.do?topic=bus" They discuss "Match.com", "The Rules",
"Men are from Mars...", Speed dating and a whole other host of things we talk about on this MB. Check it out and tell me what you think...

I actually quite enjoyed it...
I have been on a few of those "quick date" things here locally when they were popular a few years back. And that is exactly how it was too. After about the 10th "date" you just get so tired of answering the same questions over and over again.
The other thing that happened was true as well, out of 25 guys, a few of them were pretty decent, but the woman they were following only said "yes" to one of the guys. Then she was upset that he didn't match up with her as well. More than likely he said yes to more than just a few women there (and vice versa) so he probably hooked up with one of those other women before he got around to talking with her. Maybe she should have contacted him???
That was the biggest problem I saw at the speed date events is that both the men and the women for the most part were just way to picky. With the short 3 minute intervals of meeting someone, it really doesn't matter what dialog you have, the initial impression is still mostly physical with someone in that situation. And it always seemed that if they weren't "model material"... you didn't really stand a chance in having success there.
The guys I overheard in the intermissions were all ragging on the women and I'm sure the women were ragging on the guys as well. I was amazed. I thought most of the women there were pretty nice and I believe I put a yes to all but a couple of them I think. Those that didn't have any "red flags"... but I didn't have any reciprocal "hits" there. Oh well.
I also like what Penn and Teller had to say about the author of "The Rules", especially when she was commenting about a guy asking a woman out on a date Friday night for a Saturday event. "Oh no, you should never accept a date with only one days notice"...
Oh well, so that woman would then be spending the night alone by herself doing nothing or yelling about how there aren't any nice guys or whatever... But if she had simply accepted the date, who knows, they could be having a really fun time on Saturday night???
And the comments about John Gray, I'm surprised they didn't bring up that he had been married and divorced once or twice or that he had been married to Barbara De Angelo (I think that is her name) another famous dating/relationship book author.
All in all I thought it was a pretty good show though.
