You've emailed a bit & now it's time to move to the phone. How do you feel?

  • I get nervous - but do it anyway
  • I get nervous - so I skip it
  • No problem - It's really no big deal
  • No problem - I love talking to new people
  • No problem - as long as I call first
  • No problem - as long as they call me first
  • I skip it altogether - because I find it unneccesary

At first I just wanted to reply to my own poll just to bump it up ....but I just thought of something....

It occured to me that when I first started OLD, if a guy gave me his phone # in his initial email I wrote him off as pushy and didn't respond. Now that I've been at it for awhile, I'm rather relieved when a phone # is included right off the bat. It's so much better to just cut to the chase.

I'm with you, jhoov. When I first started OLD, if a guy gave me his number right away, it made me nervous - I felt as I was being pushed into something I wasn't sure I wanted. I've since gotten much wiser, as have most of us, and can see the advantages of moving beyond email sooner rather than later.
I voted that I think the phone call is unnecessary but if a guy wants to do the phone thing, I'll get his number and call - and, like you, I'm nervous when doing it.

I've just gone out with two guys in the last four days with whom I had not spoken to on the phone. Like both of you I used to think it was better to email for a while then talk on the phone, etc. Now I just prefer to meet them right away, within a week of the first contact if possible. Why waste time wondering?
