I found this article interesting. Thought I would share it with you. I think it sums up the whole OLD experience in a nutshell. I hope the link works.

The article was interesting, but definitely done from a very negative point of view, IMO.

The author said, "...Every person I know who has tried an online dating service has had exactly the same sort of experience they would have had if they'd met offline. You meet one or two nice folks, a bunch of losers, perhaps someone to date for awhile, and maybe, just maybe you meet your match..." That is true, but she isn't taking into consideration that you are being exposed to many more possibilities of people that you wouldn't be exposed to in real life. To me that is the draw of it.

Most people are so busy working and with life that they don't have the time to go out so much and to be exposed to so many people that could maybe turn into possible dates.

Sure as she said, the people would have had the same experiences they would have had offline, but I don't agree because the exposure is much higher. What are the chances of meeting so many people who live near you or within say a 20 mile radius in real life? We just don't have the time to meet so many people.

The guy I am seeing now (met OLD) I probably would never have met IRL. So I'm glad I didn't have the negative attitude of this lady and kept at the OLD. I feel that any way of meeting people, whether online or offline, has good and bad points about it. But I'm one person that is glad it is available, even though it can be trying - but so is finding a partner in real life! But interesting take on OLD.
