QUESTION ABOUT YAHOO

For any of you folks that use Yahoo Personals -

I had made my profile unsearchable in mid-April. My subscription expired at the end of May; I did not renew.

I understand that people who I may have communicated with will still be able to see my profile (I can still see theirs, even though I am no longer a member) but how is it that I am getting replies from NEW people...? I shouldn't be appearing in a search AT ALL, should I?

You need to make sure you made your profile unsearchable.

You should not be getting any emails from new people.

It's funny, I have the same problem. I mean I'm searchable, but I use a different screen name from my Yahoo email account and people are still able to IM me. I'm online now and all these folks pop in on IM wanting to chat! I just ignore them!

I also heard that they can do a member search through the Yahoo directory so that may be how they are seeing you and contacting you (regardless if your profile is unsearchable).

Just a thought.....

Hi Seamus,

Since you have listed yourself as unsearchable, I wouldn't think that they would be able to contact you, but I do believe that they can also just search Yahoo Profiles and find your IM name, not the Yahoo Personals, and IM you through there.

If you have your Yahoo Messenger signed on, then it appears that you are in the Yahoo Personals as signed on also. I found this out when I wasn't a paying member yet kept getting IM's from other Yahoo members who were not members of the Personals, but had been browsing through the Personals and saw the little yellow smiley showing that shows you are signed on. I did still have my profile searchable though.

But if you didn't cancel your subscription, it continues to be charged to your credit card unless you specifically cancel it. But that still wouldn't make sense if you made it unsearchable. Hmmmm..... Where's lg when you need him?!!!

In my experience with Yahoo, you may have to telephone them to get something changed. I have had a hard time navigating their instructions.
