Hi, I am familiar with OLD, but have never gotten into instant messenging. It just seemed too personal or something. I've decided to give it a try. I understand about inviting friends, the basics I guess. I've used MSN Mess. for work. Anyway, I've downloaded yahoo messenger and would appreciate any tips in regard to it and OLD. I unchecked the show when I'm oline box. Can I just "talk" to just one person? I'm definitely a one on one type of person. I understand that one can exchange messages without being a member of yahoo personal? Is that correct? How does that work? Thanks for your help.

I'd advise staying away from IM'ing in the early stages of dating, and stick to email and phone. If your username is any indication that you're in my general age group (I'm 46), in my experience, the guys who want to IM fall into one of two categories, those who want cybersex, and those who just want to chat with as many women as possible but have no intention of ever actually *meeting* you.
