what am I doing wrong...not much luck..

I tried Match for 3 months in the fall and am just wrapping up a 3-month membership on e-harmony.

You might try one of the dating sites that's geared towards single parents...I can't remember any of the specific names, but I know they exist (try doing a google search, perhaps).
And feel free to post your user ID on match here (or cut and paste your profile) if you want feedback.
Do you initiate any winks or other contact, or do you only respond to men who contact you first?

My two cents...
Just by judging from your nickname "maureenmommy2", you might be a little too wrapped up in your kids. I never even responded to guys who had "dad" or "dad22boys" or anything like that in their headline or user name. It turned me way off.
I know a few guys who've done online dating. They all have stories of single moms - bringing their kids along on the date, carting pictures around of them, talking ONLY about their kids and apparently not having any other hobbies or interests. I'm not saying you're doing that - but those are the complaints I've heard personally.
My screen name on I-Village is kid related b/c it has always been a parenting resource for me.
Hi Mo...
The website that is geared towards single parents is called www.singleparentmeet.com
it's a pretty ok website, but again, you still have to 'weed' through the profiles just like any other online dating site. You can find some sincere men on there. I find it to be ligit, and is worth the 10 buck monthly fee.
I advise you, DO NOT try perfectmatch.com. I have been sucked into that deal for 4 months, for 100 bucks, and have not had ONE reply to any of my introductions. I'm wondering if there are any men on there at all!!!! It's a total rip off. I've also found some pretty nice guys on Yahoo.com as well...
Hope this helps!

I have been doing OLD off and on for the last 4 years since my divorce. Most of my experiences would make for good Jerry Springer episodes. I was about to give up and signed up for one more month at match. I actually met someone decent who is also a single parent. But, trust me, the good ones are few and far between!
You might enjoy a message board I frequent for Single Mothers and Dating. http://messageboards.ivillage.com/n/mb/listsf.asp?webtag=iv-rlsolomother&nav=start
Another good board is Dating as a Single Parent.

The dating world is hard enough to navigate, but being a single parent can make it even tougher! I have learned alot from the ladies on these boards that have BTDT.

Dont be so discouraged. Online dating does not work for everyone. It also takes time so whatever time you would normally "waste" to get to meet someone in real life you will have to waste in finding the one with whom you have real life chemistry. It is even harder than meeting the traditional way. So I dont think it is you or your profile , it is just the nature of OLD. There are people here who have been doing it for 5 years and all they got few good dates.
I personally cant wait for the summer to meet someone in a coffee shop or an outdoor activity. I found that I m attracted to certain artsy type that never goes online!
I m sure being a single mother makes it harder to date but there is a lot of opportunities to meet other single parents in your kids' school or sports activities...so keep trying it takes time but will hopefully happen. This is what I keep telling myself :)
