Trust me you are not alone! You don't find them; they just hang out on CL.

Actually, I really love what you wrote. Sometimes spelling things out might help him learn something, might not, but at least you got it off your chest.

I instant messaged and had phone calls with a guy about a year ago. He sounded nice, his profile seemed appealing. I really thought he sounded like someone I wanted to meet, even though he lived an hour and a half away. He had mentioned meeting early on in our talks and I told him I did want to meet, but we did not set an actual time. Then, after we had been corresponding for about a month or so, I asked him in one of our online talks about meeting. He then says that he "freezes up" upon meeting someone. I know I talked about this on another thread, but at the risk of repeating myself, I will tell you I wanted to ask this guy why the hell he had a profile online if he had no intentions of meeting anyone. I didn't though. I was polite although a bit surprised that he said that. I think we talked maybe a couple times after that, but eventually he quit messaging me and I forgot about him for the most part.

Then about a month ago, I get an offline message from him. It had been so long that I had even forgotten his user name. Then I remembered it was him, and I wrote back "oh yeah, you're the guy who had a profile online but didn't want to meet anyone. I never did hear back from you, so I never gave it much thought after that." It meaning "him".

So, I'm sure I won't hear from him again, but I don't regret what I said. I have wasted way too much time with guys who were not serious about dating and had no intentions of meeting. I think you were justified in what you said to this guy. I agree with all the things you said about how his profile, photos, etc. sounded. I actually dislike photos of people's kids in with their profile; somehow doesn't seem like the place for it. And I would give it at least 24 hours before I would assume I wouldn't hear back from someone. He was assuming a lot really.
