Dr. Phil talking about Dating Scams

Thursday's episode of Dr. Phil will be talking about dating (it looks like at least one OLD) scams.

I read some of the excerpts from the show that was to air today on his web site. It's funny how what seems obvious to me as a scam that other women would buy into. I would think it would be common sense not to send money to anyone via the web whom you do not know. Any legitimate person would not ask for money.
What I would like to see him talk about are the other aspects of OLD. I have not been on Match.com since Dr. Phil has had his name associated with that site, but I do think he should address some of those issues on his TV show. I think it would be good to go over some indicators that a guy is being phony or a player, go over how much contact is normal and when to meet, etc. Some things should be obvious, but there are many things I did not think about when I first had a profile online. One of the most upsetting things for me to come to grips with was the fact that so many men advertise themselves as something they are not. I think many say they want long-term dating relationships--that is oftentimes not what they actually want after you get to know them. Some, in fact, do not know what the hell they want or even if they want a woman at all but continue to have a profile online anyway. A perpetual dater is not very appealing to a lot of women. Neither is a guy who is unemployed, not quite divorced yet, or has other life issues that would prevent him from being a suitable match.
There are dozens and dozens of points that could be talked about on this issue. I have thought that Dr. Phil needed to get more involved in the subject of OLD for a very long time. I thought it should have been addressed on one of his shows before now. It just might save a few heartaches in the end.
