Intimidated by my date tonight

I was contacted by someone a week or so ago...he just sounds very impressive, runs marathons (and does well), cycling races, just started his own business, and recently graduated law school...and from his pics he's cute. I know this all true because i googled his name (yes i'm weird) we had been exchanging emails. When i wrote back he was like, thanks for writing back, there's a gazillion profiles online, but only a handful of people i'd like to meet. He tried to make plans with me over the weekend, but i was away, then last night, but i had plans, so we are going to a baseball game tonight as our first date.

I am so nervous. I am not sure what it is about my profile he liked...i'm nothing fancy and he is. I know i probably sound silly, but i feel like he is too good for me? I am just not as ambitious as he is at all. I feel like he will be bored by me and be thikning, Next! thoughout the whole date

Anyone expereince this? I'm not completely boring...but i guess i feel like i am next to him. How can i get over this and try not to be a fumbling fool tonight?

Hello Corbeach,

Kudos for forging ahead to meet this man.

Vexer was right on when she wrote that this guy "saw" something in you that interest him enough to want to meet you. Let him be the "judge". But don't judge the "situation" based upon the fact that YOU question whether you're "good enough" for him. That's his call not your.

I once decided that I wasn’t "good enough for a man I met online. Because I felt like he was WAY OUT of my league. I now "miss" our online contact & wonder what would have happened had we meet face to face.

Take a deep breath, relax, smile and BE YOURSELF.

This sounds corny but my thoughts are with you… have a GOOD time

ok as if i wasnt nervous enough he just sent me this:

'I'm excited to meet you! Can you answer 3 questions before we meet? Might give us some ice-breakers at the game. That's not too corny, is it?

1. What do you do for work and do you like it?

2. Did you grow up around here? If not, how'd you end up here?

3. What are you studying, and where at?'

UMMM??!!! Is that weird?

I'd say “how about we discuss this over a cocktail, makes for more of an interesting first date conversation, wink” and yes looking forward. Oh and…..don't worry I like what I do and am passionate about the degree I'm pursuing.....Ciao Bella!

Ok, that's a little bizard but relax it may just mean that he's nervous too. Email back tell him that you find his ? intriging I suggest sending back semi-answers to stimulate his curiousity for your date. For example: if you study history tell him that you study the past to better understand the future.... Just do it in a playfull mattter it just might break the tension and leave you stuff to talk about tonight.

PS: I always found it interesting to simply return the ? too. That way You turn the table & get a better "feel" of what he maybe after. ie understand why he is asking these qestions

well he's not necessarily hot...i mean i thought he was attractive, but it's not his looks i'm worried about...it's more his ambition, he seems very intelligent and business saavy...and i can be a bit flakey. lol.

so my date last night went well. We watched the baseball game...it was a great idea for a first date. We had plenty to talk about, i didnt feel intimidated once we started talking. We met up at 7 and we stayed out until about 1:30 am...just talking at this bar. It was cool. he asked if i wanted to do it again, i said yes, and he emailed me today. So we shall see.
