my luck with online dating

Compared to what I hear about other women's experiences with online dating, it doesn't seem like I have good luck with online dating. When I first began about 2 1/2 years ago, I had plenty of first dates (and I found someone who I had a relationship with for 8 months) but after I returned to the online dating scene, the number of replies to my ad dropped and it hasn't improved in the past year and a half. I don't go on many first dates at all anymore, and second dates are even more rare for me! I have a good profile (im my opinion, anyway) that sounds upbeat and describes my personality and what I'm looking for, and I even paid lots of $$$ to have a professional photographer take some photos for my profile. Everyone says the pics look great but they haven't helped at all!!! It's so frustrating :( None of the sites I have tried (Match,EHarmony,CL,Plenty of Fish, etc.) are working for me... how can I get out of this slump????

Have you tried initiating responses rather than waiting for guys to contact you? Doing both works pretty well for me, especially on the more traditional sites (on CL I've had the best luck when I've posted an ad as opposed to responding to someone's ad).

Yes, I have done that, but the results are usually not any better, in fact they tend to be worse because the men I write first usually expect me to do all the work in keeping the email conversation going, calling, setting up dates, etc. which gets tiring for me because I like a 50/50 effort. It's like they're not really interested and going along with it just for the sake of it *rolls eyes*.

Give up online dating and just live your life. Someone special will come into your life when you are happy with yourself and your life.

I went through the "slump" too and nearly threw in the towel. Patience pays off though because I finally met a wonderful man. I started OLD about 3 yrs ago and understand your frustration.

Being patient is not always easy, especially for us gals, but hang in there, the good one are out there.
