Ok Mark-you're on, musings about the Kid

Friday at 11-Your Mc Menamins.
I guess I should have figured you were protesting not wanting to be my boy-toy too much!
So I'm calling you on that and daring this blind date..unless I wear my glasses it will be a blind date .
Thing is, we really haven't done the OLD stuff-ya know..read each others profile on Yahoo, answer those dumb questions on eMatch. Have you even looked for me on Yahoo? I think I sent you my profile URL.
But I figure you're a home town boy so you must be pretty safe...no wait..all those other looser were home town boys also.
Gosh what have I done?
Sigh- to self-"""-better just tough it up eellee and see if he takes the challenge""".
So ok-be there or be square.
eellee in search of another boy-toy.

And-as an aside to the boy toy topic....about my monday trip to the coast with The Kid....nice as it was and sweet as he was and as sort of snooty as it sounds...I am just way more sophisticated and worldy than he is. And people, I am not THAT sophisticated! But I do like classical music as well as rock and roll, I like to talk politics much more than talk reality shows, I've a great appreciation for natural beauty and moments of quiet and walking gently on the earth. He thought the empty beach would be a good place to let his motorcycle rip thru the gulls.
I think the 'this isn't goingto work' point came later in the day when I put in one of my CD's with Yo-Yo- Ma doing his new Silk Road Project music, I love this music and have all 3 cd's AND am really excited about going to the concert next monday inSEattle. The Kid he didn't know who Yo-Yo Ma was and really didn't care for the music-thats ok,,its eclectic and not for every one. BUT The Kid showed his age and spent 20 minutes making jokes on the name..about going to a concert of yo-yos etc, I thought someof it funny though it came close to racist jokes which aren't funny. Not too close or I would have made him walk home
I did have a dte for the concert but he was in an auto accident last weekend and is doubtful of being able to sit in the concert hall.
So I was left with a hundred buck ticket and considered seeing if The Kid was interested.
Good thing I have other friends in SEattle who do know who YoYo Ma is and who were excited to go,
Other than those little things and that sinking feeling I was getting about not having much in common,
the day was absolutely great, and he is a nice guy who is obviously attracted to me (I preen a bit here). The sorta sad thing, and what I expected is, 20 years is just too big a difference for a mutual point of reference.
My husband was 10 years younger than I and that was fine-really perfect age difference because we still had lots in common politically musically socially etc and I retired after working for 30+ years while he had 15 years (he thought) to work. Also there is the medical statistic that says a woman usually lives longer than a man. I guess he was the odd ball that proves the rule there.
I haven't heard from The Kid since monday but I'm not the kind of woman who expects every day phone calls and emails plus he mentioned he was going to take a 3 day job in Halsey and he said his jobs were hard and long days when he worked so he might just be busy.
In any case...I have not quite decided if I'm going to spend more time on what I think is likely a dead end - or if I want to give it more time to see what developes.
OK-going to go out in the rain and visit Marks side of Beaverton and see my grand daughter who wants her NaNa to bring Fiona over to play.

See ya Friday Mark thats very big evil grin

This Friday? 11 *AM*?? ummm I would IF I was not working and working downtown. I just started working last week at Regence Blue Cross. Some of us old folks cannot retire as of yet (in fact because of my divorce I cannot imagine retiring.... ).

How about Saturday morning (my kids will be asleep) for a dog walk nearby me?

No, I don't know how to find you on Yahoo and did not receive your URL (did you send it via the iVillage email?).

Me safe? Heyyyyy, Sheri can vouch for me :-P (I *think*)...

I'll bring my camera so we can post us along with the Sheri-and-Mark picture.

thought you had said you werent working..that shows to go ya that I don't know what I'm talking about most of the time.
I think it posted the URL to you--I meant to--Yeah I did--It was on the thread where you gave me your yahoo email addy...maybe the Sheri and Mark thread.
Dog walks are a necessary and great thing EXCEPT if it's pouring out....Have you walked (? name of dog here) at the nature park . I'm scrambling now to find a reference point besides First Tech Credit Union-but then you might just be a First Tech person too. The Nature park is..Near Costco sort of but really closer to TV Hwy and off maybe about 162nd, Never mind the nature park I am obviously brain dead when it comes to street names tonight.
Where you were thinking of walking?
But as I said-I'm a fair weather walker and Fiona knows it. I do want to get her a good long walk before she has her first long car trip..ever travelled with a dog? I wonder how often she needs to get out and go wii wii (I thank the WII commercials for giving me a cutsie name for her bodily function) considering she isn't getting water every time she wants it. Guess I should plan on every rest stop for a watering break anyhow.
I read in one of the vast collection of How To Train Your Dog in One Day books I've gotten that even puppies will warn their person if they are in a crate or somehow thinking they are going to mess their bedding by whineing but I haven't heard that whine yet. She royally barks when she is ready to get up in the AM and be let outa the crate. Shes a good alarm clock but I can't reset her any later than 5AM and there is no sleep button to make her shut up. It's drag outa the nice warm covers and tromp down the cold stairs into her "play area" AKA the bathroom, since it's the only place sans carpeting I can enclose her into. Then of course now that she has mommy awake and shes outa hte crate and done her duty..why it's play time!!! NOT,
Ah well learning to be the puppy mom is a new and unique experience.
Later dude I'm going to look for that email addy of yours.

Hey Elle,

1. I found your profile on Yahoo.

2. The Nature Park by First Tech does not allow dogs. We can walk ANYwhere. I like Summer Lake off Scholls Ferry at the Tigard border.

3. Looks like you'll be gone to Seattle over this weekend (hey I wouldn't mind seeing Yo Yo *grin*) and therefore we won't be seeing each other in the next couple of days unless you care to come downtown on Friday to meet for coffee.

4. One thing about having a dog is that she gets me out every day regardless of the weather. Even though I don't like that all the time, I know it is good for me to do. I get to enjoy all kinds of weather during the year. Chili is a babe magnet too :-P.

5. I have travelled with Chili to the coast and to Mt. Hood. She's a great, mellow dog (had her since she was 4, now she's 10). She does take up the whole backseat though.

Gimme me a shout and let's talk.

Mark

Monday night-I am so thrilled he's brought The Silk Road Project to the NW--I was ready to fly back east just to see it and I wish I had gotten tickest for both nights.
I absolutely love his music and the whole concept of The Silk Road-It's introduced me to a historical context that I never read before-I've now a collection of books on the period.
Gosh, Mark-had I known I would have asked you however its on a work night..the good news is my daughter is going to come with me. Thats a big change for her as she was so against classival music when she was a teen--Well duh elle- she is 32 now plus it gives me time to spend with her.
She lives in Newcastle and though I get up there often, we usually spend family time not just mom and daughter time.
Sheri ok Mark also--my cell phone is 503,502.4436 if you want to try and meet up. ( I know this is a big no-no-I just don't buy into most of that fear of allowing ones phone number out, I know how really easy it is to get a phone number for someone )
I think I'll drive up to Gig Harbor Saturday and spend that day with my brother and over to the east side of Seattle that night to see John, my old friend, in Bothell. He bogarted out of the concert after his auto accident. He needs some TLC, an ear to hear his complaints and frustrations (something I don't want to do if I were dating him, thats for sure!) I suspect I'll spend Sat night with him and maybe Sunday night too-depending on how things go. He's a long time friend and more but I have a limited tollerance for his BS as he's gotten older...most likely he feels the ssame way. But still, he was one of the first people I called when Russ died and I was the one he wanted when he was in the hospital.
Mark I didn't know the Nature Park didn't allow dogs--I just figured if I were going to drive it would be a good place.
Close to you, though, is the wetland walkway off Davis and 153rd.-Take 153rf to Barcelona Way and the pathway is on the east right at the first bend of the street..it's right where Kirstin my youngest daughter lives..+ she could take the picture of us. It's a neighborhood winding semi forested area that winds thru until almost Murray Blvd-just for consideration as it's closer for me than Scholls and I'm going to be getting outa town right after I walk the dawg. I want her good and pooped out .
Nix on downtown tomorrow-my dance card is now full-I replaced you with a Yoga class see how easy that was? then yada yada yada running around....such as I have totally forgotten to DEQ and register my car. I'm embarrased to say for how long but I do have an excuse that I went to Costa Rica for 6 weeks last fall and then was recovering from surgery in early winter.
Maybe see ya both?

Ah, I'm going Tuesday night. I saw the Silk Road Project the last time it was here (maybe 3-4 years ago?) and it was amazing.

Anyway, I'm thinking it's probably best to take this discussion to email so as not to bore the other folks on the board ;-)? Email me through my profile and I have Mark's address as well so I can cc him once I get yours. Or I'll try emailing you if you have that feature set up?
