Let's get this together...

Remember awhile back we attempted to get something together where we all meet... so let's get it together!

Chime in and let's figure out where the easiest place to meet would be. Give us your locations, etc.

And remember, this is not iVillage sponsored, this is just a group of people who would get together to say hi.

Thoughts?

Well, I'm right in the middle of the country in St. Louis. Something in the Midwest would be close, but I'm also roughly equidistant (in terms of flights) from either coast, too.

I've successfully organized 6 online support group meet-ups. The only way they work is to make them at a 'destination location' where there may be cheap flights and sometimes package deals.
I've done 2 in Reno, 2 in Vegas and 2 in Hawaii! The Vegas gig had the largest draw - from a group of about 300 active members, we had 60 people! It was great.
The most fun was Hawaii, where we went for Thanksgiving one year. Thats an off time for Hawaii, we got good air fare and room deals and the hotel comped us a meeting room. I even organized a speaker (this was a health related group) who came with his family.
If not a end destination, the next best ideas are the middle of the country, such as St Louism or the Hub of an airline is always good for fares too.
Last every city has great celebrations that the place is noted for--I'd suggest Portland at Rose Festival, however it ALWAYS rains then and though we sturdy NW folk are used to it, it's not fair to others who want a vacation along with a visit.
Other ideas are like The Bahamas, Key Largo, Cancun or Puerta Vallarta.
Or the Northwest in August when we can be pretty sure it will be sunny most of the time-and maybe even hot!
Other meets that I've missed have been in South Carolina at Ashland.
And here is another idea-since New Orleans is struggling so hard to call tourists back I imagine there are heaps of places that would love to have a group of fun singles and may be willing to do things like comp meeting rooms just to get the group there.
Personally I think this is a fun idea for you-this seems like such a close community and meeting people face to face that have formerly been just the written word is really a trip.
Now days, pictures are all over sites, but when I organized the first one in Reno, 15 years ago we were a 'listserve' operating off Lehigh Universities server because a list member was a guru there and snuck us in. It was primitive to say the least.
I collected baby pictures of everyone beforehand and posted them in the hospitality room with names-then people tried to guess who was who from the baby pic. They were also the name-tags we wore all weekend.
OK I admit it-in another life I must have been a real party girl, or a party organizer at least.

I know I don't post often, but I would definitely be up for this!

I'm in the DC area but I like the idea of a destination like Vegas or Hawaii. Both sound like a blast.

I'm pretty open; I think it would be fun no matter where. I love Boston and NYC though both are pricey for hotels (and Hawaii is pricey period though I've been dying to go there).

This board tried to do something in Chicago a couple of years ago but it fell through. I'm glad this has been brought up again. Count me in!

I'm in Dallas, but would be willing to meetup somewhere else. Boston would be cool...I've never been and have wanted to make it up that way for a while now...
