How does everyone fit there exercise....

in when you work long days? I know this may seem like a stupid question, but my job can have very long hours and I find it hard to fit exercise in on those days I work. I go in for 7:30 in the morning and sometimes don't get home until 7 at night. I'm not a morning person, but by the time I get home at night I don't feel like it either. LOL! Do you all get up extra early to fit it in? Does everyone workout everyday? The only thing that saves me is I am part-time. One week I work 2 days and the next I work 4 and it keeps rotating like this. So on my days off I try to workout twice to make up for the days I miss. (not sure if it works that way)Just wondering how everyone else makes it work. ~Nancy~

I have to agree that since you're not a morning person I would use those as your "off" days.

My work schedule is that I am busy every other week

Hi Nancy,

I would also agree that maybe those could be your days off. That is a long day! Or maybe when you get home from work you could go for a walk? The only thing that I have ever honestly found to work for me is doing my workout first thing in the morning. Whenever I get into that rountine, its the only time I ever actually exercise consistantly. Good luck!:)

Another thing - if I don't do it in the morning (first thing, but I don't get up any earlier for it, lol, just whenever I do get up ;o) ) it just doesn't seem to get done.

I think everyone is different in what works for them. It does seem that the people that are most consistent workout in the morning. I know this is the only thing that works for me. I try to workout almost every day and get up as early as I need to get the workout in. On extra busy or long days I usually still workout, I just might do a shorter or easier workout. For me working out frequently is very important even if they are short workouts. Skipping days tends to lead to more skipped days. So I pretty much have a policy of never taking off more than one day in a row unless I am very sick or there's some kind of emergency situation. PC

WOW! Thanks for all the replies girls! It's nice to know that evreyone can sometimes have problems getting them in also. I used to workout 7 days a week when I first did WW and cut down to part time hours. Only worked two days a week then and every other Saturday. Then once I picked up one extra day is when I started to slip into skipping more, because of the hours. Also is when I started to slowly gain!! I also am one if I start skipping too many days it leads to more and more... Maybe I'll try doing a shorter workout after work this week and see how it goes. If that doesn't work, maybe on my longer weeks I'll set the alarm and tough it out. I'm off now til Tuesday so the next 4 days will be easy...I think 5 days a week is good to shoot for. Thanks for all you input ladies! :)

I usually do my best workouts in the evening after work.
My current work day is pretty normal, however; I did once have a super-stressful job with ridiculous hours. During that time, I used to work out in the evening too.

I sometimes can get in a quick one mile or stretch in the AM, but I have a lot more energy after work.

I find that the Walk Away the Stress video is a good one.
It helps me to unwind at the end of the day.

For me the trick is to talk myself into it if I am tired.
I begin the self-talk on the way home on the train, reminding myself of how good I will feel afterwards, how I will be able to really relax and enjoy dinner and sleep much better after a work out. I tell myself that it is not work, but taking good, loving care of myself, and that I desreve to be healthy.

I find too, that on those occasions when I do get in a quick morning walk, I feel better--less stressed and more energetic all day.

Best wishes !

I am defintely a "Morning Person." There are times when I exercise in the morning and again in the afternoon or evening, but I find that if I don't do it in the morning, my energy is low later in the day and I tend not to get around to it as easily.
This I recall to my mind, therefore have I hope.
