Be creative -- How would you ask???

Okay, our church has a new pastor, same age as I am and divorced, too. I went in to talk to him last week about formally joining the church and I am really attracted to him. (and I know that he's interested in meeting someone because he asked the committee that invited him here whether they'd have a problem with him dating someone from the church.)
I've been out of the dating game for too many years (married 23 yr., divorced for 2) and I don't know what the rules are any more!
So be creative -- how would you
A. Let him know you're interested
B. Ask him out. Now, a disclaimer. I live in a small town, so just "happening" to have tickets for some event isn't going to work. I'm stumped. Or should I even be thinking of asking?
Thanks for any help you can give!

Congrads on meeting what sounds like a good guy! :)
Hm... How about coming up to him after a church service and asking him to coffee or something? That could be just a friendly thing, or it could turn into more. You never know, and it's not too forward. Maybe you could say you come from similiar backgrounds and you'd like to bounce some things off him?
Too bad the "Hey, I've got 2 tickets to fill-in-the-event. Would you like to come?" won't work! I'm planning on trying that one myself on someone. ;)
If you keep making your presence known at church, he may just take notice as well! ;)
Let us know how things go!
