What are some places you've met someone?

Sometimes it seems like the only reasonable place to meet someone single is at a night club. But I've already learned that night clubs are probably one of the worst places to meet someone. Where are all the single girls at? What are some places you've met someone special?

I know what you mean.... it seems like the only place people are open to flirting and exchanging numbers is in a bar or night club. But that isn't the best place really.
Other places...
1) Church. Not necessarily Sunday service, but church activities, volunteering, or getting involved in a ministry. Visit different churches other than your home church.
2) Online - Dating service. This is a viable place to meet new people in today's day and age. It seems like EVERYONE has a profile online or a myspace page. But I'd stick with the big ones like Yahoo Personals or Match.com... not the little or cheaper ones... I made that mistake and there was noone from my city. oops.
3) Book Store (or any store for that matter) - if you browse around your favorite book section you might meet someone or be able to strike up a conversation about a book you like to read. I made a date for myself to go to a book store and browse. My goal was to simply make small talk with at least one person. (I ended up making some new friends, albeit female, but that lead to meeting the single guys that they new... cool) The point is you meet people with similar interests.
4) Wine Tasting - Haven't tried this personally but I've read this is a great place for guys to meet girls. Because there are more women at a wine tasting than men. Check your local listings.
5) Parties! - someone throwing a bday party...GO. someone throwing a house warming party..Go. after work party... Go. You get the idea.
6) Friends - I hear another good resource is friends. I'm afraid to try this though, but I hear that you should tell friends to "set you up." Like I said, I'm afraid to try that one myself.
7) Oh and another one of my favorites because I like to sing is KARAOKE. Slightly different than a night club. Picking a song to sing or getting up and singing, I find, is a great conversation starter.
Those are some of my ideas. Good luck.

Hey Eddie :D
I met someone on www.plentyoffish.com and it is a free dating service and he is a great guy...there are alot of ppl on there from every town it seems..I am from a small town and theres even quite a few from here :D Good Luck! :D
I am also met women in grocery stores and at the mall. You just need to use some of the "polite" sarcasism or as some call it "cocky and funny" tone. It can be difficult in e-mail or IM'g to always show that C&F tone.
What also works is standing in line at the grocery store... she does not have ring on - somewhat safe, make a comment about how your purchases and hers would make a really great dinner - only you would like to know what type of wine she likes.
There are all sorts of ways to get a conversation going... You just need to look at the person first - analyze if they look receptive to a few words, if you don't see a ring that is a positive start and no guy already hanging near her, plus if she still is wearing a name tag from work - that even helps better. You can give more familiarity to the conversation.
pursuing a relationship right now and I'm very happy with him.I'm getting the attention that
I never had.I'm going slow because I 'm in the process of learning to trust again. In the
meantime I'm having fun.
I have found that nightclubs are a great way of meeting guy, but then again I'm a bartender. lol.
I separated from my ex H, about 6 months ago, and I met a few idiots at nightclubs/pubs, who were basically only after sex.. so I gave up on that.
I recently started dating this wonderful guy, and we met in a yahoo chat room actually.. and we live 50 mins apart from each other. We chatted on msn for a few weeks, and then decided to meet up as friends, and it progressed from there :)
