Starting to date again... chemistry???

Hi all,
I'm rejoining the dating scene after ending a 3 year relationship (my decision, the best one I've made so far).
I've gone out twice with this guy- he seems really nice, interesting conversation, stable, promising future, and who treats me really well. The second date ended up with a few kisses, and we already made plans for a third date.
When I met my ex, it was instant chemistry- I wouldn't say love at first sight, but I was deeply attracted to him from the first time we met: butterflies, the whole thing. Obviously, I was blinded by being in love and didn't see all the red flags flying around from the beginning. That was the negative side of it.
But with this new guy, it's different. It took me a while after our first date to decide how it had gone, whether I had liked him or not. There seems to be chemistry potential, but it's not like my experience with my ex.
Is this also normal? Is it possible that chemistry can become more intense with time? Or should I be feeling it from the beginning??

At the risk of repeating himself for the one thousandth time Pianoguy would like to remind all women (and men) who plan to "resume dating again":

DO NOT COMPARE A POTENTIAL NEW PARTNER WITH A FORMER SPOUSE! OR EVEN AN EARLIER COMPANION!

Not only is the habit STUPID...but it's only going to annoy you if he (or she) doesn't respond exactly the way you expect.

Give each new person who enters your life the opportunity to charm...or turn you off...without making comparisons or making false preconceptions!

PLEASE???
