It sounds like you won't be that comfortable with letting things happen 'naturally', being spontaneous, etc. and I can understand that. It can get confusing and you may end up giving each other mixed signals, develop expectations and then resentments and all of that messy stuff. I'd suggest a little structure to it. For example, maybe you can ask him whether he'd like for both of you to agree on two mutually convenient days a week that you'll leave open for one another and, though not making any absolutely definite plans, agree to try and make doing something together a priority...on just those two days. Then, of course, if special occasions arise or one of you needs to committ to something else on one of your 'couple days,' agree to openly communicate that as far in advance as possible. Communication, really, is crucial to any arrangement that you decide upon, but you both should want and agree to it.
