Thank you, Carla. That does help to hear what your experiences with this sort of thing are. I think I'm mostly nervous about the whole thought of dating again. It has been so long for me. And things are quite different now compared to when I last dated 25 years ago.

I'm in the same boat as the poster - I find myself in a new relationship after years being 'off the market' - and although I've asked friends, I've gotten the same response. . .

A bikini wax is when they remove the hair from the "sides" so when you wear a bathing suit you don't have hair showing on either side of your suit.

A brazilian wax is when the hair is removed from in between your butt cheeks as well as the bikini area. Basically from "front to back & side to side". After a brazilian many women feel "cleaner" and of course, smoother.

'Trimming' involves either scissors or a beard

Quick note to Hey Girl: in asking around, my friends are recommending that I don't try to remove hair and trim up myself "Down there".

From what I have read in magazines and other women, trim and neat is nice, to where hair is not wild through sides of underwear (bikini wax). As we get older our hair changes and I personally like bikini wax with trim because it makes me feel cleaner and hairs aren't wild coming out of underwear sides. I have not tried full brazilian yet because I wax myself and it's kind of hard. I take as much off as I can and love the clean feeling. If you're not sure because it's new and your first time, go to a salon and have them trim with a bikini wax, you will love it. Warning, not to scare you, it does hurt, but as you keep getting it done you get use to tolerating it. Before I wax I take benedryl to help with itching and red bumps from developing. Why don't you do some research on the internet on the procedure and side affects. I wish you well and good luck back into the dating game.

Unless you are really 'bearded' I would just go with a do-it-yourself trim, not a shave.

I just want to say, thanks for asking this question! I have been wondering the same thing!!

I just went "bare" but I used Nair...somewhere I read to get rid of red bumps you can actually apply deodorant after shaving if you go that route.
