How would you interpret this?

I met a guy through a dating site and we had our first date this past Saturday. During a recent email conversation, I'd jokingly said something about not biting his head off and "your head and assorted body parts are perfectly safe with me, I swear" as a reference to times during our date when he seemed excessively nervous. Here was his reply: "I feel that my head and body parts are safe with you. I trust you. LOL But can you trust me? After all, you did look hot."

Is it my imagination, or does the "But can you trust me? After all, you did look hot" comment seem a little creepy? I'd really appreciate any and all feedback. Thanks!

This was his attempt at humor and to compliment your appearance.

Thanks for your response, but I've decided that allusions to rape really aren't funny and so he's officially been dumped.

I agree with rainman913. Perhaps you saw non-verbal clues to something else that we can't see in what you wrote. But obviously, if you don't feel comfortable you should stay on the side of safety.

I wouldn't interpret those comments as a sign that he was a rapist--after all you started it by making a comment saying that he was safe w/ you, then he just turned it back. I just think it was an attempt to compliment you & show he was interested, which fell flat. I wouldn't think that most guys who intend to rape you would let you know about it before hand, like "Hey, if you go out w/ me, we are going to have sex whether you want to or not." But in person he might have acted in a way that made you uncomfortable, which would be different.
