Great guy, bad breath-HELP!

I went out on this date yesterday and all went very well surprisingly. The guy was generous, sweet natured and fun. We clicked very well overall, however I noticed from the begging he had a couple bad teeth. Now, I will state right now I don't judge people on their looks...and really, this guys looks are not too bad except for these couple teeth. That being said, by the end of the date, he did make his move and come to find out that his breath was horrible. I guess I wasn't surprised because of the teeth, but honestly...my heart sunk. I don't know what to do, as I like him a lot, but I can't see myself being able to kiss him and kissing is a biggy for me in a relationship.

I don't think he realizes how bad his breath is...I'm sure everyone is polite, as I was and not say a word. I know he is self concious of the teeth, as when he lets out a good laugh, he'd tend to cover his mouth a little with his hand. It's no different from me being self concious of something or anyone I'm sure. But his personality was great, and I enjoyed the date and would love to see him again.....ugh, what do I do???? How can you tell someone their breath is horrible? And how can I pass up on someone so great....who really only has one major flaw that effects the relationship? But how can I go out with him again with something that bothers me as well?

I'm so embarressed to even post about this, but I'm at such a loss on what to do. He's all ready asked me out again and I debate wether I should just dissapear on him. I'm a honest person, but no one can tell me they'd straight up tell someone something that is going to hurt them.

Please help...what do I do??? :(

Buy those listerine strips - they are powerful - and offer him one as you take one as well and hope that he accepts.

Of course it would be ideal if he did'nt have that problem but Deena's got the right idea. Do what she said or offer a breathe mint as you take one. Or excuse yourself to the ladies room with a mini bottle of mouthwash and say you have an awful taste in your mouth from the popcorn at the movie or the enchiladas you had at dinner. I admit my latter suggestion may be a bit more difficult to pull off.

Probably the reason I'm still single but that would be a dealbreaker for me.

Why not just be honest with him and tell him nicely that you like him but that's an issue for him? If you were willing to break with him anyway, you might as well be honest too... ;)

Nothing against you but I think that would be very cruel. I would only say that to someone I knew very well. I think setting some kind of clear example is best. Does anybody else have any other ideas?

I've tried setting the clear example--hate to say it but people don't usually get the 'hints.' The one time I had a situation like this I was honest about it and the guy did appreciate it... things worked out well... I think it's all in the delivery of the message, not trying to be cruel at all.

ok, ok. By the way those Listerine strips are officially known as "oral care strips". I think this is funny, but can you imagine asking a guy "would you like an oral care strip?"

He would probably think you're going to take off your clothes and....!!! LOL
