i dont know if this is where i direct this type of question/discussion

but i haven't been in a 'relationship' for 2 years and i just started talking to this guy, but i dont know how to approach the whole dating thing. everything from when to call or how to act. its soooo strange! i dont want to call him often in fear of looking like i'm coming on too strong, yet i dont want to wait too long and make it seem like i'm playing hard to get or not interested. is there even a 'right' answer to all this?? we're getting together monday for the 1st time in 2 weeks...eeek

Are you actually dating him? Has he asked you out on a date? Is Monday a date or are you just hanging out?

In any event, in the beginning with a new guy I generally let him do most of the calling, etc. I show my interest when we are together and by occasional calls/emails, but don't overdo it.

i dont think we're going out on a 'date' but we're getting together. not quite sure what the afternoon or night will entail probably just chilling and watching a movie.

That doesn't sound like a first date to me. In that case, I would just treat him as a friend and that goes for calling too.

I think if he knows you like hockey you'll be money in the bank! I've been searching my whole life for a nice pretty girl who loves the greatest game on earth. The guy would be nuts to pass that up.. If you're nervous, put the hockey thing in your vault for something to be very confident about when talking to guys. That would go miles with me, then again, I live in California and most people don't know a powerplay from a PK.

yeah we had the hockey discussion but hes not so much into it as my family is. hes more into basketball which was the new sport i started to take up this year (jan) so bonus for me.

plus i've dated and dealt w/ too many of the hockey guys and now i can pick them out in a crowd. "he played hockey when he was younger" and i'm usually right. they have a certain kind of...cockyness that stands out

haha jokes

so you say that like its a BAD thing(the hockey as a kid thing?) hahaha..just kidding.

probably easy to pick out the real hockey players isn't it--random teeth missing, crooked noses and lots of stich marks right? and any guy that says 'ey..

I still think if you're at least interested in these very typical guy things you're money in the bank and if he can't see it he's not paying attention.

so what part of the country are you from anyway?

its not so much the teeth knocked out and crooked noses and such but just their whole attitude. not so much now b/c i'm a bit older but in my teens they all thought they were hot sh!t and puck bunnies would swarm them. and me, going to the games b/c i'm interested in the sport and not so much the guys made me look like there was something wrong w/ me. bah trying to put all that behind...

yeah i agree - before january i'd knock basketball every chance i got a lot of my guy friends got together tues nights to play ball and always asked me to come watch but i refused. if a game was on tv i couldnt even sit through the 1st quarter. but over xmas break i went to a pro bball game and sat through the whole thing. so i'm definitely game :)

i live in ontario, toronto right now for school. haven't skated since i moved here :(
