What to do??

A few months back, I met a guy who seemed interested. But then I was not ready, since I was just recovering from a bad breakup. I was there with a friend at the time, so as it turned out instead she went out with him once. She doesn't think she has enough chemistry with him. So, since then they have done a lot of friendly phone tags. A lot of "let's get together as a group" sort of a thing.

Anyway, a few days ago I ran into him and sort of regretted not going out with him. He gave me a few compliments and the conversation flowed pretty well, and we were having a good time. But while we were talking, the same friend also showed up. It's kind of a wierd situation. I'll be seeing him at an event probably pretty soon again and the same friend will be there as well. So, chances are it'll be the same awkward 'group' situation.

So, now I don't know what to do... not sure if:

a - he likes my friend at this point and I should just forget this whole thing although she is not interested.

b - he might still be interested but is not saying anything, since he is confused that I never emailed him back.

So, I don't know if I should just leave it to the events where we will meet and see if something will come out of it, or just email him like I should have done months ago, and start up a conversation....

Any suggestions would be helpful. Thanks!

I think you should use a "hands off" approach, stand back, and see what evolves from all this. There is no way to know what he is thinking. I would not email him or contact him, just be friendly when you run into him.
