Approaching him...

Hi,

I'm new here and like everyone else... I need some advice. I'll try to keep this as short and as "unboring" as possible...

I saw a guy that use to be in some of my college classes. My classes ended about five months ago and expecting that I'd never see him again, I always regretted never trying to get to know him. So a couple days ago when I saw him working, I didn't know what to do, and still don't. From the limited amount of contact I've had with him, I'm wondering how or even whether to approach him... and if I were to approach him, what to say?... "Hi, I barely know you but...". I am shy (he seems to be even more shy) and am wondering if I'm just being stupid dwelling on this or if I should just take a risk and somehow approach him? Any advice would be very much appreciated.

Confused and not wanting to regret not talking to him... again!

You already know that you'll regret it if you don't say something to this guy so...do it. Just go up to him and say hello and maybe mention that you remember him from your class. Ask him how he's been and what he's been up to, ask about his job. Offer a little bit about what you've been doing. Hopefully, the conversation will flow and you will feel good about the encounter. Maybe you'll even find the courage to ask him if he wants to get together, maybe he'll ask you. If that doesn't happen, it's okay, not the end of the world. Just remember, nothing ventured, nothinig gained and good luck.

I would just go up to him and say, "hey, didn't you go to _____ college?" if he says yes, say, "i thought you looked familiar." and ask him how he did at school, how he likes his job, what he's been up to in general. Ask how he liked the school and the teachers, you may have a common like or dislike of one of the teachers there.

Good luck~!
