2 dates, his birthday, call him?

I've been on 2 dates with J. I feel our dates went well. At this stage I don't know if he likes me for the person I am or if he is after just one thing. I think I will be able to tell in the next couple of dates.

It is his birthday coming up this wednesday. At the end of the last date, I said to him to call me and we might do something for his birthday. He said he will call me during the week. I'm not expecting anything from him. If he calls he calls, if he doesn't then I have my answer. But then it is his birthday coming up. I think it would be nice if I give him a call to say happy birthday. Or should I send him a card instead?

Thanks.

I would treat him like you would treat any new friend who's birthday is coming up. Do what you feel comfortable with. Most of my friends nowadays call me to say Happy Birthday and then also send a card... but it's all what you feel should you do. So what would you be comfortable with?

Since you don't the guy well, I'd send him an e-card wishing him happy b-day. If he wants to spend his day with you he'll call you.

If I were in this situation I would call the guy up. Just simply to wish him happy birthday, not to hound him for a birthday date or to keep him on the phone for an hour. A phone call is more personal than an e-mail and reminds him that you're still out there without seeming suddenly overbearing, as a card would at this point.

Clara_doll - have some fun with this opportunity....I like lightandbright's idea of an e-card. They could really show your personality. For me, after 1-2 dates, I'm still pretty nervous about talking (rambling on). But like the rest say, whatever make YOU comfortable. Have fun!
