When should you say "I love you"

My situation is a little diff. I met someone and we both care about each other a lot. I'm 30 and have dated enough people to know what i want. When I met Chris, something about him made me want to hang onto him. For 2 weeks straight, i wasn't working yet so i was able to spend everyday with him. We got really close. Unfortunately, my work forced me to be away for 2 months and it put our relationship in a bind. He told me that we should put our relationship on hold so that he could see someone because i'm not there.

I realized that i do love him and i want to say it to him. I know that it won't change anything between us, nor do i expect him to say it back. My friends tell me that he doesn't deserve it. I kinda feel that this is the right time because i am not expecting to hear it back, i just want him to know. I am already at the point where i am not scared anynmore to put my heart on the line.

Suggestions?

I'm confused, you know for a fact he wants to see someone else, is in fact seeing someone else and not only that, but he started seeing her as soon as you were gone, yet you want to confess your love for him.

PG's 2 cents:

If you honestly think you can "handle rejection" or the possibility of no response from Chris at all...GO AHEAD AND TELL HIM YOU LOVE HIM! .

Whenever anybody "puts their heart on the line"---the outcome will either be positive or negative. But keep in mind one thing....PLEASE?

When you decide share LOVE with anybody....your perception and commitment of the word could be entirely from the person you're interested in? Simply because LOVE comes in a variety of forms......from a casual friendship to total commitment.
