New Guy - 2 questions?

Hi, I have two questions. I have started dating this guy, whom I've known for two years, but we just decided to start dating about 6 weeks ago. Now, we have slept together and that is all good. He is a really nice guy and I get along with him. He's a great guy, any girl would be lucky to date him. However, things have gone from like "0 to 60" within the last two weeks, and I had to tell him today that we needed to slow down and take a step back. I told him I needed some space. Well, he isn't exactly giving it to me. He continues to text me, and now he's online wanting to chat. I mean if someone told me they needed space, I would completely back off. He's not getting it. How do I tell this guy that what he is doing is suffocating? He thinks we can talk about everything else, as long as we dont discuss "us". But I need complete space. I don't want to hurt him or ruin my chances with him, but this is the first time a guy hasnt taken a hint or picked up my subtle messages. I mean, I tried today and again tonight... but it's just so desperate.
Second question, same guy- It's been really hot where we live, and the few times he has come to my place after work he has had horrible BO, I mean so bad I couldn't sleep in the same room. It really turned my stomach. How do I politely tell this guy to change deodorants or carry some with him and reapply?
Thanks...
K

You just need to be straight forward and tell him that you need complete alone time in order to recharge to function in life. But be specific. Like, "when I get home from work I need about an hour to myself to wind down. It is important to me and it makes me a better girlfriend to you." That was just an example, but you get my drift.
As far as his scent goes you can just say that when he gets to your house after work he carries work home with him - on him - so you'd like it if he showered after work at your place so that you can get real close and enjoy each other. Next time he comes over have a towel in your hands and tell him to hit the shower.
