Advice needed on Xmas

Help, I need some advice on a problem we have with my SIL & BIL every Xmas. Every year the whole family provides an Xmas list of what they want to everyone else, and usually does so at least ten days before Xmas.
But SIL's family always provides a list about two days before Xmas, despite gentle reminding every year to get them out a little earlier. But it never happens! I think one of the issues is my SIL doesn't work and assumes everyone else has just as much time to shop as she does.
The problem is both DH and I work and have a young baby at home. So our shopping time is decreased as a result. My SIL has three young kids, so it's not like they have a problm coming up with things for a list.
DH asked her nicely four days ago if they could get a list, but we haven't seen a a thing yet. DH has said if we don't get one today then SIL's whole family is getting gift cards...something we don't like to do, but we don't want to do our Xmas shopping at the last minute either!
Anyone have a similar issue?

Hi Horatio1970, welcome to the board!
I think almost every family has probably at least one family member who likes to drag things out until the last minute. I know if I don't know what someone wants or they don't tell me, they will probably get what I think they should get, whether it is a gift card or some other gift. If your SIL gets upset because they didn't get what they wanted, you can always remind them to give their list in advance and you will be happy to oblige.
If she won't accommodate your time, then she should be lucky enough to get gift cards from you. I mean come on...
