Hi,
I had the hearing on 12/01. He didn't show up, so the judge said it was "uncontested". He asked me if I was still afraid of him, and I said "yes". What I'm afraid of is all of the threats he had made to me if I ever called the police, and if he was arrested, that he would get out and come after me. Now that he's living down in Orange County, I don't think he would ever bother me again, but I can't be 100% certain. He didn't have a car when he was here, but he certainly has the funds to get one now. I'm going to get him served with the DV-130. At least he will know that if he would try to do something, it'd be his "2nd" strike with the police. I doubt he'd want to risk it, since he knows that I won't hestitate to call the police! How I wish I could have called the police so many other times, but I was either too scared or 1/2-asleep. Much of his abuse occurred during the wee hours of the morning.
I did something fun last night, that I would never have done had I been still living with him. I attended a Holiday Benefit Gala for the local paralegal association. I am a student member, as I am currently attending night school and will graduate next summer. Another student went to it with me. We had so much fun! It made me realize how much of Life I had missed out on because I felt trapped in my "relationship". So many wasted years. I want to live life to the fullest, from now on and savor every morsel!!
