My son starts kindegarden soon. The first day a parent is suppose to go with him and stay with him for a one hour parent orientation. This is suppose to help the kids adjust and not be scared of school.
I am on summer leave from work and start back Aug. 31. I told my dh I would try to get that day off so I could do it. Will I got my work schedule in the mail yesterday. I have to report back to my classroom on Aug. 31 and then the Sept. 1 and 2nd are training days. I can't miss the first training of the school year, kwim? If I had to just work in the classroom it would be different, I could take an hour off for it and then come back-I cant do it if I am in training.
So I told my dh that he would have to do it, he said he would just drop him off and I told him he couldnt just drop him off. That he had to stay with him and he said , "well I guess he won't go then".
My dh knows he has to take him to school every day but he is refusing the boring parent meeting. He said, "i'm not wasting my time". It is a waste of time when you look at it that way, it will be boring but this is for our kid and nothing to do with him and his first day of kindegarden is a waste of time. BTW, all he will be doing is sleeping and watching our 3 year old. AGGH!
I called my neice and she is 19, but she said she would take him and spend the hour with him. I feel bad that I cant do it as one of his parents should do it, KWIM? I just cant miss that first two days of training. I teach head start by the way. Our kids dont start until the 15 but we have trainings to do and a class room to set up.
What would you all do?
