my sureal morning court

Now I just couldn't resist to share this morning's events with everyone. Briefly updating, I have had the official divorce decree as of March 11. I asked for full custody of son on the grounds that PAHL is about 40 cards shy of a full deck, not to mention violent. He challenged it and demanded he be given full custody on the grounds that I am too protective of son. He demanded a court ordered psych evaluate the situation. They did and judged that PAHL is about 40 cards shy of a full deck, not to mention violent. Ok, that cost me 2200 to find that out. He also challenged my having the house saying it is worth infinitly more than it is worth, and he wants the difference in cash. So they scheduled this morning's court session to discuss this. The psych paper was mailed to his lawyer on two weeks ago by the way.

Back to this morning. I didn't know if PAHL would be there or not but didn't think so. It still gave me the heebeejeebees to think he may show up. Well, no, he did not. But his lawyer did. She was, for the first time I have to say, polite to me and directly addressed me sitting at the table with my lawyer in the lobby of the court house. She asked if I had PAHL's address. Huh? was my reply. She spoke in German to my lawyer who started snickering and looked at me and said: 'She says Mr PAHL has not paid her and she wants to stop representing him. She wants to know if you know where he is at so that she can contact him.' (for money I suppose)

Well I only had the address of his mother and this we offered to her gladly. She was as nice as can be the entire court session. Meanwhile the judge apologizes and says that unfortunately because Mr PAHL cannot be found, I have to pay the whole cost of the psych., as well as an appraiser for the house. Not only that, but now that PAHL's lawyer will no longer represent him, I have to pay the cost of a court appointed lawyer to represent him until the final decision is made. Now we are talking over 5000 in costs to me just for those three things. I wanted to cry, I said he could have everything, I am just tired of this. But, though the judge took pity on me, he said the appraiser could not be avoided and was necessary for making the final decision. However, he did say they would make great effort to find the cheapest one and to not ask for any further actions once that was done. In other words, the decision would be finished then with my keeping whatever is in the house. Unfortunately the amount it will cost me for the decision is fast approaching the cost of the junk in the house.

But anyway, there I was with a judge and two lawyers, all trying to help me and to minimize costs (which I was grateful for by the way). Go figure. And PAHL has now just about screwed everyone at least once including the judge, the translator, the government, the lawyer, and me. Fortunately the judge said he could legally get away with making a final decision for custody in my favour without asking for any further courts. I guess that makes it all worth it.

But then, you would think karma must eventually descend down on PAHL's head in the form of a 100 ton pile of something, maybe steal, brick, or even $*(#. There is so much negativity from that person that it has to come flying back at him someday I suppose.
