Hi gang! I havent been able to post in a few days and I missed you all. Anyhows, I think I've posted before that I have a DS6 with a progressive neuromuscular disease. We've been in the hospital. Respiratory Distress came on Saturday evening, no idea it was coming. These attacks are usually preceded by a cold, cough, something! This time we had no warning. We treated him at home for a few hours but when his heart rate went over 200 and his blood oxygen level was dipping below 89, we called 911. We were discharged yesterday and the little guy is just fine today. We're actually baking bread now and waiting for the dough to rise.

Talk about needing to escape! There were many, many points over the last 4 days when I just wanted to be in OMM's arms. Not specifically because of HIM, but because I'm so terrified of my son's health and these attacks are sooooooo frightening, and I'm never quite sure he's going to come out okay. The idea of being with my escape was soooooooo tempting!

Well, I just wanted to check in because I'm usually not away from the board for more than just the weekend. Hope you are all doing well! Love, Maureen

Hi Maureen,

I am sorry to hear about your son. I know how difficult that can be. We had a huge scare w/ my son when he was born. We take him to the oncologist for check ups and touch wood and thank God he seems to be fine and holding strong. Having a sick child must be very trying on a family.

I agree that sometimes we just look for an escape from all the daily grind and pressures. Not saying an A is the correct solution but sometimes I guess its the errors we make to give ourselves just a little pleasure.

Not sure if any of that makes sense but I really just wanted to say my thoughts and prayers are w/ you and your little angel.

Dipss.

xo!

Oh, so sorry to hear about your sweet little boy!!! I have 2 boys, I can only imagine how hard it must be on you!!

It's a good insight, though, that you recognize your desire to run to the xOM for an escape. I can relate; I'm only now realizing how much I was using my xOM for escape, too.

Hugs to your little boy; glad he's feeling better!

Glad you're back, Maureen! Also, glad your little one is doing so much better. I've had chronic asthma since I was an infant so I know how tough and frightening it can be for the child! When my son was about the same age as yours, he had an asthma attack that put him in the hospital for about three or four days so I know how the Mom side feels, too. It was scary as hell for me when he was there. We had family around but they aren't always what you need for comfort. Ex-dh stayed when he could bit at that point in our marriage he wasn't a big comfort for me, either!

Here are a few boards over at Parent Soup. These should give you a place to start for additional support.
