Saw this on Oprah, of all places, but I can't get it out of my head, especially given the crazy antics I've been witnessing in my life recently. She quoted Maya Angelou as saying, "When people show you who they are, believe them...the first time."
I think I saw a post from today about this very thing... these guys have shown us who they are... I saw it, but it got buried in all the layers of him that I plunged headfirst into...failing to see the forest for the trees...
I think we all need to step back and take a big look at the forest. And believe these guys/gals are who they showed us they are. Not who we wanted them to be (true love, soul mate...etc.) I'm still learning this, too. Really learning it, down to my gut.
When I met him, he warned me, but I thought I could play with fire and not get burned. Famous last words! Thank God for second chances...with the people who REALLY matter...our families.

Thank you so much for repeating that quote. I watched the show yesterday and when Oprah said those words, I thought OMG that is so true. The OM revealed himself from the very start but I refused to see him for who he really was, and not just once, several times. I too was warned but I thought I knew better. It's amazing how we let our heart rule our head in the name of love, or what we believe is love. I look at my H now and realize how lucky I am to have him.

You too, huh? xOM told me he was a "Headcase". Told me all about his fear of committment and how he was afraid of getting hurt, so he would put up a wall when it came to his emotions. "Hurt or be hurt" was his motto. Told me he didn't believe in "one-chickness", didn't want to ever fall in love or get married...I could go on and on, but you get the picture. I guess I fell for those 3 little words..."But, you're different."
LOL!
Thanks for sharing such an amazing quote...if I ever get another 2am phone call, I'll remember this!
Good luck with your move!
