I don't remember where I read this -- I've read it a number of times in different mags over the past 2-3 years -- but (supposedly) we mate with a man when the man 'smells right' to us (and vice versa). If we don't like the 'odor/essence' of a man, supposedly we won't sleep with him. But the 'rightness' of his odor is in almost direct correspondence to our desire for him. Wouldn't it be hysterically funny if our A boiled down to how our lover's BO?

BTW, it IS funny, but this is NOT a joke. I am NOT kidding. I have read this a number of times (in reputable magazines).

Also, I was very aware -- almost all of the time that I was in the A -- that I was very attracted to the sound of his voice (he had an accent) and to his body (he had spent 20 years in the military service and was built VERY well and was VERY masculine). I think we over-estimate ourselves. We are still part of the animal kingdom. I think that plays a part in our desire for a man.

Just some thoughts.

I watched a TV program on that subject, they suggest a woman can tell if a man is healthy by his aroma not with the consouse mind, also something to do with pheromones.

I used to tell my xmm that it made me happy because I could still smell him on my pillow. It sure doesn't help me now...remembering a smell instead of having a legitimate relationship. Jeez....the stupid little things that make us think we're happy....bleghh

XOM did smell great. Funny thing, he told me once that he could smell me on one of his T-shirts and that he put it away and didn't wash it for weeks. He also had a lock of my hair (goofy, I know) and said the smell of it brought tears to his eyes. And we thought it was our curves they liked.

No, no, not cologne -- I'm talking about what MeFree was talking about: "Aroma" and "pheromones." Just couldn't think of those two words.

EVERYONE has a natural body odor. When a man has bad 'BO', we know it because, geez, we can't miss it. But underneath everything, whether or not we're conscious of it, every man has his own 'aroma' -- which, among other things, is meant to attract a female. And when it registers with us that his (whoever he is) aroma is 'right' with us -- and we're looking to 'mate' -- we will sleep with him (if we can).

And, no, newsgal, you're right. Men are attracted by what they SEE, so, yes, initially they are attracted by our bodies. And sometimes that's all there is to the relationship, for a man.

'Smell' isn't ALL there is to a relationship, most of the time, but it really figures into the equation. And I just find it interesting. I used to tell XMM that he smelled 'right' to me -- I was very aware of how his 'aroma' turned me on -- and he would think I was telling him that he had bad BO LOL (which he didn't). I mean, some men just don't 'get it' and never will. And this guy was very well educated (well, at least formally).

Hey, My XOM was in the military for 20 years too? Did you do him too? Wouldn't surprise me.

I don't think XOM smelled like anything...maybe like cigarettes and beer...now why would a woman like me find that attractive????

Bella,

Hah! I thought the same thing when I read it.....but being more familiar with her posts, I think she meant she wouldn't be surprised if her XOM was doing more ladies than just her.

Is that right, SCU? Speak up as I know you can ;)

PS - Hats off to the wonderful information you have been offering the board. Even for someone like me,(out of affair for 6 months), there are still difficult days every now and then, and that is why I continue to read here periodically.
